About
Jonathan Rees is a British cellist and viol musician.
He is working on the musical scores for the project.
He has given acclaimed solo performances in the Leeds International Chamber Music Series, Lichfield Festival, Bristol’s Colston Hall, and in the 2010 BBC Proms composer portrait of Colin Matthews.
He performed as a chamber musician in the Cheltenham, Lake District and Trondheim music festivals. He played with the LSO, London Sinfonietta and Aurora Orchestra in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre and Camden Roundhouse.
His keen interest in period performance has led to appearances at the Spitalfields Festival, the Three Choirs Festival, and Wigmore Hall, with ensembles including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Gabrieli Consort, the Dunedin Consort, Music for Awhile, and Devon Baroque.
Earlier, Jonathan was principal cellist in the National Youth Orchestra, and was awarded the Bulgin medal for outstanding contribution to the orchestra.
